The National Democratic Congress (NDC), has asked government to publish the list of contracts it claims, saved the country some ¢2.75 billion because of prudent procurement measures by the Public Procurement Authority.

Speaking on GBC’s current affairs programme, ‘Behind the News,’ Deputy General-Secretary of the Party, Peter Boamah Otukunor, said the President’s claim that government has saved the country that amount are just to shield some persons from corrupt behaviours.

He said the number of corruption scandals under President Akufo-Addo’s watch are too many, and the claim to have saved the country some ¢2.75 billion cannot be true.

“We have not heard any list and we think that that claim that savings have been made is rather frightening and bizarre, very baseless because you cannot just come and say that you’ve made savings of ¢2.7 billion when you have about a hundred and six scandals under your government and only one is involving about $34 billion.”

Reacting to the claims, Government spokesperson on Finance, Daniel Okyem Aboagye, said President Akufo-Addo would not have created the Office of Special Prosecutor, if fighting corruption was not a priority for government.
