The Director of Advocacy and Policy Engagement at CDD Ghana, Dr. Kojo Asante, says the reinstatement of the Auditor General, Daniel Domelevo, will correct the misinterpretation of the law by government.

He said the country’s Labour Laws have no provision for proceeding accumulated leave.

He said the recent directive by the President for the Auditor General to proceed on accumulated leave sets a bad precedence and expressed the hope the President will reverse the directive.

Dr. Asante is leading a coalition of CSOS advocating for the reinstatement of Mr. Domelevo.

Leave directive

The Office of the President extended the Auditor-General, Mr Daniel Yaw Domelevo’s leave days by 44 more working days.

This comes on the back of Mr. Domelevo’s letter to President Nana Addo-Dankw Akufo-Addo urging him to reconsider his earlier directive to proceed on his accumulated leave, claiming that it breached the labour law and was unconstitutional.
