A retired police officer, Superintendent Peter Lanchene, has declared his intention to contest the upcoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries in the Wa West Constituency.

Supt. Lanchene (rtd)

Addressing scores of delegates and supporters at Wechaiu, after picking a nomination form, Supt. Lanchene (rtd) said his decision to contest the seat was born out of his “Vision of investing in people, changing lives and transforming Wa West”.

Supt. Lanchene (rtd) who promised to serve the interest of the vulnerable women and children in the constituency also called on the general public to live in unity to help foster the rapid development of the area.

“Te jaa Bunyeni (we are all one) syndrome should not mean when a criminal is arrested he or she should be allowed to go, but it means that we should be each other’s keeper – we should be able to correct each other’s children in the absence of their parents”, he explained.

He also cautioned people especially the youth against involving in vulgar language, particularly insulting the elderly for whatever reason, noting that doing so would bring curses upon them.

Supt. Lanchene (rtd) also advised the youth to desist from reckless driving particularly during campaign season to keep them alive for the voting exercise.

He was optimistic that he would win the primaries to lead the Wa West Constituency and the NDC party to the 2020 parliamentary elections.

“I stand for continuity, I stand for unity, I stand for progress, I stand for love”, he declared and called on the fresh men and women to rally behind him for victory.

Supt. Lanchene (rtd) is seeking to push aside veteran politician, Mr Joseph Yiele Chireh who has been occupying the seat since the creation of the constituency in 2004.
