The Rugby League Diva Series continued its four-month journey on Saturday, August 29, with the second edition bringing nearly 50 young female athletes together at Accra Girls Senior High School for a morning of training and Touch Rugby League.
Following the maiden edition in July, the August round provided the players with another opportunity to build their skills, confidence and understanding of the game while competing for valuable series points.
The Rugby League Diva Series is more than a competition. It is a development platform created to inspire and empower girls through Rugby League, using the sport to promote qualities such as teamwork, effort, responsibility, discipline and leadership.
The August edition featured four teams: Accra Girls Senior High School, Presbyterian Senior High School, La (LaPRESEC), Next Gen and Old Guard.
Six competitive matches were played, with Old Guard finishing the round at the top after recording three victories. LaPRESEC also enjoyed a strong outing, while Next Gen and Accra Girls continued to gain valuable experience through the competition.

Game 4: Old Guard 2–1 LaPRESEC
Game 5: LaPRESEC 2–1 Accra Girls Senior High School
Game 6: Old Guard 5–3 Next Gen
Old Guard finished first in the August round with 10 series points. LaPRESEC maintained its second-place position from July with eight points, while Next Gen placed third with six points. Accra Girls finished fourth with four points.
The results have tightened the overall competition after two editions. Old Guard, LaPRESEC and Next Gen are now all level on 16 points, while Accra Girls are on 10 points.
While the competition is beginning to take shape, the focus of the Rugby League Diva Series remains firmly on the players and their development. The return of the girls for a second month showed the value of providing a consistent platform where they can learn, compete and build confidence.
The series also continues to bring together schools, coaches, officials, families and supporters around the development of women’s Rugby League, creating an environment where girls can discover their potential both on and off the field.
With two editions completed, the race for the inaugural Rugby League Diva Series title remains wide open.
The third edition takes place on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Accra Girls Senior High School, as the teams return for another chapter of the journey.
