S/Wiawso: NPP elects Executives for Western North

Nine (9) executive members of the New Patriotic Party, (NPP) in the Western North region has been elected at its extraordinary conference held at Datano near Sefwi to Wiawso, the regional capital, to steer  the affairs of the party.

The Committee is under the chairmanship of a retired CEPS Officer, William Benjamin  Assuah. The conference brought together  one hundred and seventy delegates with seventeen from each of the nine constituencies constituting Western North Region.

They were  made up Members of Parliament (MPs’), Ministers, Council of Elders, patrons and founding members of the party. While the delegates were  deliberating on the party, some of the observers  were also entertaining grounds with different types of music including brass band, kolomashie and jama.

Others also took advantage of that to engage in brisk business such as selling of paraphernalia,food and drinks.

The election supervised by officials from the Electoral Commission, led by the Western North Regional Director of  EC, Godwin Tawiah Okley, ended successfully with William Benjamin Assuah, as the Chairman with Messrs Eric Theophilus Tandoh and Ernest Adasah  Nkrumah as the first and second Vice  Chairmen.

The position of Secretary went to Samuel Kofi Tandoh while  George  Alex Monney  won that of Assistant  Secretary.

The position of Treasurer went to  Gifty  Adu  Ankamah, Nasara Coordinator went to Alhassan Rahman.

It was only position of Youth Organizer which tied with two out of the three contestants  obtaining 48 votes each to be referred to the National Headquarters of the party for advice.

In his response, the regional chairman elect Mr William Benjamin  called for unity to build the party and increase the seats in the 2020 general elections.
