More than a thousand BECE candidates from schools in and around Accra New Town took part in the third edition of the SAKAL Summit, organized by the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Accra New Town Congregation. Held under the theme “Victory Through Jesus Christ,” the Summit fulfilled its mission of spiritually equipping students for both academic achievement and success in life especially as they prepare to write the BECE.
The service opened with spirit-filled praise and worship led by the candidates themselves, under the able supervision of the Mission and Evangelism Team. Their ministrations set a powerful spiritual tone, inviting the presence of the Holy Spirit for the life-transforming encounter that followed.

The District Minister of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Accra New Town District, Rev. Frank Oguase Adu, who also serves as the Minister-in-Charge of the Accra New Town Congregation, delivered a stirring message on the theme. He emphasized that true success is anchored in hard work, diligence, discipline, and most importantly a sound relationship with the Jesus Christ.

“Victory is not just in the classroom or exam hall, but in walking with God through every season of life” he added”. The Word ministration was followed by an intense prayer session led by Rev. Titus Tetteh Nanor, Associate Minister of the Congregation. Together with Rev. Adu, the ministers led a moving anointing service, laying hands on each candidate and praying specifically for wisdom, wholeness, and confidence.
The Deputy Director in charge of Supervision and Management of Teaching and Learning from the Ayawaso Central Municipal Education Directorate, Mrs. Felicia Adu Mensah representing the Municipal Director for Education, commended the Church for their consistent and meaningful spiritual engagement with schools in the municipality.
She urged the candidates to avoid examination malpractices and rather rely on the values instilled in them by their schools, churches, and families.
“What the Accra New Town Congregation has done today is not only spiritual but also nation-building,” she noted.
Some of the candidates shared their excitement and gratitude”.
“I feel spiritually charged and not afraid of the exams anymore,” said a student from Kotobabi “11” JHS. “I was blessed with the preaching and the anointing service. I’ve learnt that hard work plus God equals success,” another student from Kotobabi “3” JHS added.
Teachers and Heads of Schools who were present also received prayer and commendation for their vital role in shaping young minds. They praised the initiative.
“I believe our students need more of these spiritual revivals, not just “books”, remarked by Madam Rita Akotua, from Kotobabi “3”.
Beyond the Exams: SAKAL Camp & Thanksgiving and the Mission and Evangelism Committee of the ANT Congregation announced a Post-BECE Non-Residential Empowerment Camp, scheduled for Wednesday 18th to Friday 20th June, 2025.
The camp will focus on leadership development, preparation for Senior High School, developing productive life skills, Academic and Career guidance, Bible Study and Prayer and so on. Daily sessions will include two practical leadership modules and a Bible-based spiritual growth session, with refreshment and materials fully sponsored by the church and its partners.
The SAKAL initiative will climax on Sunday, 22nd June 2025 with a Special All-White Thanksgiving Service at ANT Junior Youth Chapel.
The ANT Congregation, BECE candidates and their families will join the Junior Youth Fellowship to return glory to God for the journey thus far. What began as a small vision three years ago has now grown into a movement of spiritual empowerment, academic guidance, and community impact.
SAKAL 2025 has not only uplifted BECE candidates but also brought together parents, educators, and the ANT Congregation in a shared commitment to building Godly, purposeful future leaders.
In the words of Rev. Frank O.Adu “Our children will not just pass exams—they will lead and impact their generation for Christ Jesus.”
