Spain-based Ghanaian footballer, Rose Sarpong, is organising a charity football match at the Sekondi Gyandu Park on Sunday(December 22) as part of her annual Rose Sarpong Charity Events.

A defender of Spanish side, A. C. Berriotxoa Bilbao, Rose organised a similar match four years ago which attracted some of her former GHATEL

Ladies and Hasaacas Ladies teammates against current players of both teams, after which she made a donation to Sekondi School for the Deaf at Inchaban.

Sunday’s match at Sekondi is expected to feature Ghana legend, Ajoa Bayor, and Doreen Awuah with the Western Region Football Association Chairman, Mr Simon Ehomah, as guest of honour.

Next Monday, Rose will make a presentation of food items to inmates of Egyam Orphanage to round off her charity event for the year.

The football star said the annual charity events was a fulfilment of her desire to give back to the poor and the needy.

During her playing days in Ghana, Rose began her career with Golden Girls in the Western North Region as a centre-back after which she joined GHATEL Ladies of Takoradi.

A versatile player, she later moved to Hasaacas Ladies where she switched roles to become the club’s goalkeeper before pursuing professional career in Spain.
