The MP for Kwadaso Constituency in Ashanti, Samiu Kwadwo Nuamah  has called for the scrapping of the MPs Common Fund and it should be given to the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies for development purposes. He said this at a town Hall Meeting at Asuoyeboa in the Kwadaso Municipality.

According to him, MPs should rather be made to focus on their Legislative function.

Mr. Nuamah explained however that since there was no constitutional provision backing the MPs Common Fund, coupled with the fact that MPs are not agents of development, payment of the Common Fund to them be discontinued.

The Kwadaso Municipal Chief Executive, Agyenim Boateng advised residents of the Asuoyeboa who had planned to demonstrate against the frequent spate of pedestrian knock downs on Sofoline-Asuoyeboa highway to exercise restraint.

He gave the assurance that efforts are being made to get the Ghana Highway Authority to put up traffic lights at vantage points to ensure the safety of pedestrians.

The Municipal Director of the National Commission for Civic Education, Madam Emelia Adwoa Adjeiwaa Quarm urged residents within the municipality to ensure value for money of all public projects.
