A GBC Driver, on routine duty Monday, April 13, to pick up a staff for work at Tabora, was denied access to go through a Police barrier at Abeka Lapaz, near a spot  called Las Palmas.

A soldier manning the barrier, according to the driver, allowed some drivers who had queued behind him to cross the barrier but told him he will not cross for incomprehensible reasons.

This nearly resulted in a misunderstanding and a standoff.

According to the GBC Driver, the Soldier on seeing the GBC sticker on the vehicle retorted: “you people we don’t want to see you anywhere close to us.”

The driver has therefore appealed to the authorities to educate the Security forces manning check points to take note of GBC staff who are equally doing a yeoman’s job in these difficult times.
