Cultural Heritage is an expression of the ways of living developed by a community and passed on from generation to generation, including customs, practices, places, objects, traditional clothing, tools, buildings, artwork, monuments, modes of transportation. artistic expressions and values. In line with this, the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, GBC has launched Heritage Month to promote this agenda.

Speaking at the official launch of the Heritage month, held at the forecourt of GBC, Dr. Mokowa Blay Adu-Gyamfi, the Presidential Advisor on HIV and AIDS, who was also the Special Guest of Honour said that speaking a Ghanaian language is a plus. According to her, it  makes you more intelligent.

She said  we as Ghanaians have to be proud of our heritage and that from the concept notes, the speech given by the Minister, the fashion parade, the dancing shows,etc, it depicts that the Ghanaian is unique and has to be celebrated.

She said she is glad that the whole month of March has been set aside to promote our Ghanaian cultural heritage. “I’m glad that you’ve set up a whole month to celebrate our Ghanaianess’’ She stated

‘’Eating Ghanaian food is more nutritious and healthier’’ she added

Dr. Mokowa Blay Adu-Gyamfi commended GBC for putting up such a programme.

The month of March dubbed ‘Heritage month’ has been dedicated to Ghanaians to return to their roots to acknowledge the indigenous ways of doing things.

The theme for this year’s Heritage month is ‘’Our Identity, Our Future’’.

Staff of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation were seen wearing African prints as a show of their Ghanaian heritage. The decision to promote Heritage month throughout the month of March is to promote Made in Ghana goods and products and keep alive the Ghanaian heritage.

The Launch was attended by the Director General of GBC Prof. Amin Alhassan, some traditional rulers, Chairman of the National Media Commission, Yaw Boadu- Ayebiahfoh and Deputy Minister of communication, Pius Enam Hadzide.
