Deputy General Secretary of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), Dr. Titus Beyuo says the Ghana Education Service must come out with a specific percentage of Covid-19 cases recorded in Senior High Schools as threshold to warrant the closure of the School.

His comments come after students in some Senior High Schools were reported to have contracted COVID- 19.

Speaking on GBC’s ‘Behind the News’,  Mr. Beyuo said the threshold arrangement will make it easier for GES and GHS to effectively manage cases recorded during their monitoring.

“It’s an unfortunate development but not unexpected that some students are testing positive. I do not have enough justification to say schools should close down; however, we need to be given a threshold.”

“We should be told by the Ministry of Education or the Ghana Education Service what percentage of students in a particular school must be infected for the school to warrant the school closing down.”
