Ghanaian goalkeeper Solomon Agbasi is on the verge of joining South African Premier Division side Stellenbosch FC, with negotiations now at an advanced stage. The two clubs are understood to be close to finalising an agreement that could be completed in the coming days.
Free agent after Hearts exit
Agbasi is currently a free agent after his contract with Hearts of Oak expired at the end of the 2025/26 season. The move would be his first professional club experience outside Ghana and represents a major step in his career.
Stellenbosch seek goalkeeping depth
Reports from South Africa indicate Stellenbosch have identified the 25-year-old as an important addition to strengthen their goalkeeping department ahead of the new campaign. The club is also preparing for domestic duties and possible continental football, making experience and reliability in goal a priority.
Another Ghanaian move south
Agbasi’s potential switch continues a recent trend of Ghanaian players heading to South Africa for new opportunities. It also shows the growing market for Hearts of Oak players, with the Phobians again producing talent attractive to clubs beyond Ghana.
Official announcement expected soon
No deal has been announced yet, but all signs point to the transfer being wrapped up shortly if the remaining paperwork is completed. If confirmed, Agbasi will become the latest Ghanaian goalkeeper to test himself in one of Africa’s most competitive leagues.
