President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing Ghana’s education sector, vowing to complete all abandoned E-blocks and to roll out free tertiary education for persons with disabilities.

Speaking during an engagement with chiefs and people of the Bono East Region as part of his Thank You” Tour, the President announced plans to establish two new public universities in the region.

He disclosed that a Technical University will be built in Techiman, while a University of Health and Life Sciences will be developed in Kintampo.

“A site has already been selected at Forikrom for the Technical University,” according to the President

The President explained that, the Technical University would play a key role in providing hands-on technical and vocational training to drive industrialization and generate employment for young people.

The proposed University of Health and Life Sciences, he noted, will boost the country’s capacity to train healthcare professionals and improve access to quality health education.

“We believe that technical education is essential for industrial growth and job creation, and with these institutions, we aim to bridge the skills gap and create opportunities for the youth of the region,” he stated.

The President emphasized that these projects form part of his government’s broader vision to expand educational opportunities and develop the country’s human capital.
