The Textiles, Garment and Leather Employees Union (TGLEU) says the operation of the Ghana Standards Authority, GSA, in clamping down on the brisk sale of pirated textiles in the Central business district of Accra is very timely.
The Union says the exercise will serve as a deterrent to others who engage in pirated textiles at the expense of the local manufacturing companies.
A statement signed by the General Secretary of the Union, Abraham Koomson, says substandard textiles have flooded the markets and caused serious health problems for unsuspecting Ghanaians.
