A member of the National Democratic Congress, NDC legal team, Victor Kwadjoga Adawudu Esq has clarified that it is not in the party’s power to ensure that election reruns are undertaken but rather the constitution.

“It is the constitution that spells out the provisions of an election rerun and not the NDC”, he said.

His response came about while speaking on GBC’s ‘Current Agenda’ on Saturday, November 29, 2025 when the associate at Addo Addo Legal Attorneys, Eugene Kwame Awity made a statement on the show citing that the NDC candidate in the 2024 Kpandai Parliamentary election, Daniel Nsala Wakpai petitioned for a rerun after the NPP candidate emerged winner.

“We asked for the nullification of the whole election results in court’, Mr. Awity said.

According to Mr. Adawudu, the high court nullified the election because it is stated in the constitution and not because the NDC petitioned for it.

Also speaking during the panel discussion, the Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party, NPP, Richard Ahiagbah stated that the party is not disheartened by the court’s decision for a rerun.

According to him, “the NPP is not disheartened by the turn out of events because we believe it needs time”.

Their comments came about when the Tamale High Court nullified the 2024 parliamentary election results for the Kpandai constituency in Northern Region, citing procedural irregularities at the collation center including allegations of vote-rigging, removal of biometric verification devices, and destruction of ballots, prompting security intervention. Justice Emmanuel Brew Plange ordered a rerun of the election within 30 days, following a petition by National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate Daniel Nsala Wakpai after the NPP candidate, Incumbent MP, Mathew Nyindam emerged winner.
