Cristiano Ronaldo has all but confirmed that 2026/27 will be his final season as a pro. Speaking to Vogue, the 41-year-old Al-Nassr star said: “This is probably my last year of football, and I want to leave a spectacular legacy.”
End of an era after 25 years
Ronaldo has spent more than two decades at the top level, winning league titles in England, Spain and Italy, plus five Champions Leagues and five Ballon d’Ors. He has already called time on his Portugal career after the 2026 World Cup, where the team lost to Spain in the last 16.
What’s next: family, travel, padel
He says his post-football life is “all mapped out”, with more time for family, travel and hobbies like padel tennis. His contract at Al-Nassr expires in June 2027, and he has given no indication of extending beyond that.
One big target left: 1,000 goals
Ronaldo currently has 976 official senior career goals, so he needs 24 more to reach the historic 1,000-goal mark. If he stays fit and keeps scoring at his usual rate in 2026/27, he could hit that milestone before retiring after a 25-year career.
