Six people have been killed in a train accident on the Great Belt Bridge in Denmark.

Reports say a tarpaulin from a cargo train hit a passenger train on the way to Copenhagen in a heavy storm.

Police could not provide details but have confirmed an object had hit the train. Emergency services were reportedly struggling to reach the train in the bad weather, which had 131 passengers and three crew on board.

The bridge linking the islands of Zealand and Funen has been shut after the incident, and people are reportedly being evacuated.
