A Taskforce led by the Kwahu South DCE, Emmanuel Ofori Atta, has intercepted eight vehicles transporting traders from Kwahu Mpraeso to Ntomemm for business activities.

According to the DCE, the operation was to enforce the strict adherence to the social distancing protocols in vehicles particularly commercial vehicles.

Mr Ofori Atta said they had complaints from some market women that trotro drivers were overloading despite government’s directives on observing social distancing to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

In the early hours of today, the Taskforce began its “operation distance yourself’ and alighted all passengers in vehicles who either overloaded or were not wearing nose masks. He warned that any driver or passenger who flouts such directives will be prosecuted.

Mr Ofori Atta entreated all station masters to ensure that the drivers duly comply. He stressed that, the fact that the Kwahu South District has not recorded any case of COVID-19 does not mean they should throw caution to the wind.
