Tyson Fury on Sunday morning defeated Deontay Wilder in a rematch of the December 2018 bout after referee Kenny Bayless stopped the match in the 7th round of a keenly contested World heavyweight Championship bout.
Tyson Fury dominated from the very first round through to the seventh while knocking Deontay Wilder down in the third and fifth round.
Wilder sustained an injury on the left ear in the third round from a heavy right punch from Fury and bled throughout the remaining rounds until the seventh round when referee Kenny Bayless thought he couldn’t continue with the fight.
With the win, Fury gains the WBC and vacant The Ring heavyweight title, while retaining the lineal heavyweight belt. He improved to 30-0-1, handing Wilder the first loss of his career. Wilder fell to 42-1-1 with the loss. The two originally met in December 2018, when they fought to a split draw
With a rematch clause inserted in the contract for the loser, Deontay Wilder has the opportunity to fight another day if he chooses to activate it.
