U/W: Jirapa Senior High School records remarkable improvement in the WASSCE results

Jirapa Senior High School in the Upper West Region has recorded remarkable improvement in the WASSCE results over the past four years despite challenging environment.

The school from 2016 to 2019 saw tremendous progress in core Mathematics, English Language , Integrated Science, and Social Studies. Speaking at the 25th Anniversary celebration of the school ,the Headmaster Primus Baro said records at the Regional Education Office show Jirapa SHS is on the right path.

Mr Baro pledged to uphold discipline for the success of the school saying teachers must be the first reference point of discipline on campus.

The Jirapa Senior High School was established in 1994 through a collaborative efforts of the Jirapa Area Youth and Development Association as well as the Government of Ghana. The school which started with 126 students now has one thousand three hundred and 26 students.

The Headmaster of the school, Primus Baro said the school is on track to achieve its dream of becoming one of the best educational centers nationwide. He said discipline is the hallmark of the school and he will demand nothing less than success. He gave analysis of the school performance over the past four years.

Mr Baro however outlined some challenges confronting the school and called for support.
Mr Baro said another challenge confronting the school is staff accommodation saying out of the more than 100 staff, only six have accommodation on campus.

He appealed to the Jirapa Municipal Assembly to help surmount the challenge by allocating priority projects through the assembly common fund.

The MP for Jirapa, Dr Bawaana Dakura outlined some projects undertaken to ensure that the school get the necessary infrastructural development.
