The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, says the peace and unity that exist between Moslems and Christians in Ghana, which makes it possible for them to visit each other’s places of worship is a blessing from God that cannot be under estimated.
He therefore called on Moslems to use the Holy Month of Ramadan to pray for the continued Unity and Peace in Ghana as well as the success of the Government, as it rolls out its vision for the Country.
The Vice President this at Kukuom in Asunafo South as he started the Ahafo Region leg of his Nationwide Ramadan tour to pray and interact with Moslems.
The Vice President’s Nationwide tour to pray and interact with Moslems in the Holy month of Ramadan, has become a firm fixture on the Vice President’s Calendar since he assumed office.
The first day of his tour to the old Bono-Ahafo areas saw him at Kukuom, in Asunafo South, Goaso in Asunafo North and Duayaw Nkwanta in Tano North.
At all these stops, the Vice President paid courtesy calls on the Chiefs before proceeding to the Mosques to pray and interact with the Faithful.
Speaking at various stops, Vice President Dr. Bawumia said all government’s interventions like the Free SHS, Planting for Food and Jobs and the One-District-One-Factory, (1D1F), under which 80 Factories are up and running, are all aimed at making life better for Ghanaians.
He said job creation is a priority for the Government which has already created 350 thousand jobs in two years.
Speaking at Kukuom Alhaji Dr. Bawumia in reaction to the sight of Christian Clergy Men in the Central Mosque to welcome him said Ghana is blessed to have such a wonderful relationship between Christians and Moslems, describing it as a unique blessing God has bestowed on Ghana.
In response to appeals from the Omanhene of the Traditional Area, the Vice President pledged Government support for plans to establish an Islamic College of Education in the Ahafo area which currently has no College of Education.
The Vice President also elicited cheers when he revealed that plans are afoot to get the Norbekaw-Sankore road reconstructed.
