Use of agro-chemicals destroying natural habitat of snails, mushrooms – Environmentalist warns

A retired Educationist and Ecology Lover, Sylvester Aboagye-Amoah, says negative human activities on the environment are destroying the natural habitat and breeding space for snails, mushrooms and earth worms.

Expressing his sentiments to GBC’s Radio Ghana, Mr. Aboagye Amoah said the use of agro-chemicals particularly in spraying before planting must be re-considered.

He told George Ankrah what his worries are about the future of the country’s agriculture prospects.

Mr. Aboagye-Amoah said government should adequately resource farmers to produce enough to feed the nation and for export.

He compared the Ghanaian situation with the support farmers in Cote d’Ivoire receive from their government and said the current Ghanaian government should do more for farmers to give off their best.

He believes Ghana has all it takes to produce enough plantain for export.
