Vegetable farmers along the Black Volta in Nakpanduri and River Yinyung in Togo have expressed worry about the unavailability of water for irrigation activities during the dry season.
This, they say is affecting production, as well as putting some of the farmers out of business.
The farmers made this remark when the Chief of Kpikpira, Naba Danzuur and his elders visited the area to be abreast of the situation and how traditional authorities in that catchment areas can use their position to ensure dry season farming become vibrant and attractive to the youth.
Naba Danzuur called on government to harvest excess water during the rainy season for the farmers to use in the off season.
