Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has met with the leadership of the College of Physicians and Surgeons, led by Professor Afua Hesse, to discuss initiatives aimed at enhancing specialist healthcare delivery in Ghana.
The discussions focused on preparations for a major volunteer medical outreach, expected to attract between 1,500 and 2,000 delegates, who will provide free medical services to patients.

Prof Opoku-Agyemang also engaged with the College on the relaunch of its Endowment Fund, which will support the training of medical specialists in Ghana and across the sub-region during the upcoming gala.
Plans for a medical simulation centre to strengthen specialist training and boost Ghana’s global competitiveness were also discussed.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang commended the College’s dedication to improving healthcare and emphasized the importance of continuously enhancing specialist training to close gaps in service delivery.
She reaffirmed the Government’s recognition of specialist training as a cornerstone of a resilient healthcare system and called for sustained collaboration to improve care for all Ghanaians while keeping pace with global standards.
