Over 900 women were directly empowered by the Voltic Ghana Limited along its value chain in 2018, the company has said.

Most of these women who are at the lower end of the chain received livelihood empowerment skills in financial literacy and savings.

The Public Affairs and Communication Manager of the company, Ms Joyce Ahiadorme, told some members of the Institute of Financial and Economic Journalists (IFEJ), during a reception that the company provided 3,000 pupils in six schools with potable water in five regions in the country.

The event, which included a tour of Voltic’s Akwadum factory at Nsawam Adoagyiri in the Eastern region, was to celebrate shortlisted applicants of the fifth Flamingo awards as part of its sponsorship towards the awards held in December last year.

She said as part of the company’s sustainability priorities dubbed, the “3Ws-women empowerment; water stewardship and waste management,” it paid three years rent for stores for two widows in the Ashanti Region and one-time payment for stock worth GH¢6,000 who are expected apply the financial skills acquired to run their trade.

“Our mission-to refresh Ghana everyday while making the country a better place is translated into our 3Ws which demonstrates our commitment towards creating greater shared opportunity for the business and the communities it serves across the value chain,” she stated.
