Wa: Farmers express worry over challenges with PFJ implementation

Farmers in two farming communities, Nakore and Jonga in the Wa Municipality of the Upper West Region, have expressed worry over challenges they face in accessing services under the government’s Planting for Food and Job (PFJ) programme.

A farmer, Abubakar Abdul-Gafaru, said Planting for Food and Jobs is a laudable policy, but its implementation has been fraught with challenges.

These include getting subsidised fertilizer, improved seeds, extension services and ready market for farmers.

Mr. Abdul-Gafaru was speaking to the media on the sidelines of a Community Durbar on Gender-Responsive Budgeting, organised by the Ghana Trade and Livelihood Coalition (GTLC) for farmers in the Nakore and Jonga communities.
