The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the provisional results of candidates who sat for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates.
In a statement dated November 29, 2025, WAEC announced that the results meant for the Ghana-only version of the examination have been uploaded online adding that Heads of schools will receive login details to access their students’ results, while individual candidates can also access their results at www.waecgh.org.
WAEC cautioned candidates and the public to beware of fraudsters promising to upgrade results for a fee, stressing that its system is secure and results can be verified through the Council’s verification platform.
Performance statistics in the release indicates that a total of 461,736 candidates registered for the examination. This included 207,415 males and 254,321 females from 1,021 schools, representing a slight 0.24% increase over the 2024 candidature of 460,611. However, 5,821 candidates (1.26%) were absent.
Performance across the four core subjects such as English Language, Mathematics (Core), Integrated Science and Social Studies showed mixed outcomes.
English Language:
289,673 candidates (69.00%) scored A1–C6
37,712 (8.18%) had D7
39,091 (9.23%) had E8
54,294 (12.86%) failed with F9
Mathematics (Core):
209,068 candidates (48.73%) passed with A1–C6
52,991 (11.62%) scored D7
52,145 (12.15%) had E8
114,872 (26.77%) failed with F9
Integrated Science:
220,806 candidates (57.74%) got A1–C6
54,580 (11.85%) scored D7
45,783 (11.97%) had E8
61,243 (16.05%) failed
Social Studies:
248,538 candidates (55.82%) passed with A1–C6
33,670 (7.38%) scored D7

WAEC confirmed several cases of irregularities after investigations conducted by the Ghana Examinations Committee during its 40th meeting on November 17, 2025.
The committee approved the following actions:
Cancellation of subject results for 6,295 candidates for bringing foreign materialsincluding prepared notes, textbooks, and printed sheets into examination halls.
Cancellation of entire results for 653 candidates found in possession of mobile phones during the exams.
Withholding of subject results for 908 candidates and entire results for 158 candidates pending further investigation.
Additionally, subject results of candidates from 185 schools have been withheld over alleged collusion. WAEC says it aims to conclude investigations and release outcomes before the end of December 2025.
WAEC also revealed that a total of 35 individuals, including 19 teachers, were also implicated in acts that compromised the integrity of the exam. WAEC confirmed that 19 have already been prosecuted and convicted, receiving fines or prison sentences adding that the remaining 16 individuals are yet to be presented before the courts by the police.
The council also indicated that the list of implicated teachers will be forwarded to the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) for further disciplinary action.
