The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has denied leakage of examination papers in the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
This follows reports on social media about the purported act.
A statement signed by Deputy Director in charge of Public Affairs of WAEC, Mrs Agnes Teye-Cudjoe, explained that the Council received information about some malpractices at some centres.
To this end, the council said it has increased inspection and monitoring of the examination at the various centres. It has also withdrawn and annulled the appointment of some supervisors and invigilators pending further sanctions and has made a formal complaint to the Cyber Crime Unit of the CID on the operations of some “rogue websites”, purportedly aiding in examination malpractices.
However, the Council notes that a large number of candidates have conducted themselves well and urges all stakeholders including the public, to help safeguard the integrity of the examinations and certificates awarded.
