Deputy Minister of Health, Alex Abban, says government is leaving no stone unturned in tracing all contacts of confirmed Covid-19 cases.

He said although the number of confirmed cases are staggering, the silver lining is that a greater number of them have not made any contacts leading to further transmission.

He observed that the mandatory quarantine has really helped.

“But for the mandatory quarantine, all these people would’ve found themselves within the population because 78 out of that number are all drawn from the people who were mandatory quarantined.”

“Others who filtered through into society were those who also form the vast majority of the remaining number because as it stands, for the statistics that we have as at March 26, only 2 are people who had not had and travel history but have contracted the disease,” he said.

“This means almost all of them are imported cases.”

“We are only praying that within the next two weeks, we do not have any explosion because if we don’t have any explosion, it means then that, those who came, regardless of their social interactions with the people in Ghana may not have been able to transmit the disease to people within the country,” he added.
