WHO/FDA launch Med Safety App to combat fake medicines

With support from World Health Organization,  (WHO) the Food and Drugs Authority, (FDA) has launched a mobile app by which people can report adverse reaction to medicines and  other skin care products from the comfort of their homes.

This way,  the FDA can determine the efficacy of the drug or product and whether or not the drug has been approved and certified by the Authority.

The App is called Med Safety App. The complaints when received will be analysed and evaluated by the pharmacovigilance unit of FDA to address the problem of fake medicines and products.

Minister of health who was represented by Dr. Martha Gyansa-Lutterodt Director of Pharmaceutical Services and also the Chief Pharmacist of Ghana, said the FDA has progressed a step forward in their bid to make medicines safe for Ghanaians
