An appeal has been made to the Ministry of Health and Ghana Health Service to work with traditional medical practitioners, Centre for Plant Medicine Research at Mampong and other relevant agencies to research into developing a home grown medication to fight the coronavirus.

The appeal was made by Philip Foundation Program, a non-governmental organisation committed to the development of women, youth and children through capacity building and advocacy.

Its Executive Director, Boateng Mensah, said: “the deadly Covid-19 has virtually brought global activities on its knees and there is the need for timely and pragmatic approach, both local and international to deal with it decisively.”

He commended the government for measures taken so far on getting Ghanaians to collectively work to stop further spread of the virus.

Mr. Boateng made a number of suggestions for government consideration to tackle the virus.

It include the need to lock down the country  for about two to four weeks and review as future situations demand to ensure that, health facilities and professionals are not overwhelmed by the already constrained health facilities.
