World Bank Africa Vice President Hafez Ghanem visits Ghana

World Bank Vice President for Africa, Dr Hafez Ghanem is in the country for a three day working visit to discuss challenges in the key sectors of the economy. He will also examine how Ghana is working to diversify its economy to be more competitive on the global market.

Welcoming him at the Jubilee House, President Akufo-Addo reiterated government’s commitment to move Ghana Beyond Aid. He said as Ghana prepares to exit the IMF one key lesson will be to prudently manage the Public Purse in order not to go back to the fund.

He commended the World Bank for its continuous support to Ghana.

Dr. Ghanem urged the country to do more in the area of value addition and industrialisation as these are  key for national development.

While in Ghana, Dr. Ghanem will also participate in an African CSO and Parliamentary Dialogue Series connecting 15 countries across Sub-Saharan Africa and launch a World Bank’s report Profiting from Parity – Unlocking the Potential of Women Business’s in Africa.

He will also visit World Bank Group-funded projects in and outside Accra, such as the Accra Digital Center, Women in Agriculture Green House Farming project, and VegPro Farms all at Akuse in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
