World Vision helps Jirapa Municipality in malaria treatment

The World Vision Ghana has donated two hundred and three (203) boxes of medicines estimated at fifteen thousand US dollars ($15,000) to the Jirapa Municipal Directorate of Health.

Making the presentation, the Programme Manager of Jirapa Area Development Programme (ADP) of World Vision, Francis Mensah said it is an opportune` time for World  Vision to donate the drugs to service our people in the communities.

The MCE for Jirapa, Mrs. Christine Bonbanye Amadu, who received the medicines, thanked donors for the intervention.

She said World Vision has been in the Jirapa Municipality since 2014 and they have been very, supportive in the area of health, agriculture and many others.

“Today we are privileged that we are getting these drugs from World Vision, these are malaria drugs and I think this is the most appropriate time to receive these drugs from them because this is the rainy season and this is the time for malaria, so I think it has come on time and on behalf of the Municipal Assembly, we want to express our gratitude you [world Vision] as ask for more,” the MCE observed.

She urged World Vision to continue supporting the Jirapa Municipality as it has done since 2014.

Mrs. Amadu who in turn handed over the drugs to before passing them on to the Jirapa Municipal Director of Health Services (MDHS), Mrs. Florence Angsomwine for onward distribution to the various CHPS compounds for use.

Mrs. Angsomwine was grateful to the Municipal Assembly and World Vision for the donation to the Health Directorate and emphasized that it has come at the right time.

MDHS announced that malaria is the number one cause of admission in the Jirapa Municipality and at the OPD, it tops as the first top diseases in the Municipality.

Touching on Tracking, Testing and Treating, Mrs. Angsomwine pointed out the medicines would be administered to the right patients who deserve it.

She announced the very soon, the seasonal malaria chemoprevention will start and said the drugs from World Vision will really help in the treatment of malaria cases in the Municipality.
