A Ryanair passenger has described a chaotic flight he was recently on where people blared music, downed bottles of spirits, and started fighting in the aisles.

Journalist Kieran Dineen said most of the passengers on this flight from Dublin to Malta were on their way to a music festival and got the party started early.

Before even taking his seat he described seeing a number of young people ‘inebriated’ and said: ‘It wasn’t until I was on the plane that I realised that of the 180 passengers, I guess around 150 were all going to this dance festival.’

The flight took off to the sound of dance music being played on phone loudspeakers. Kieran said one man was pinned to the ground by two others for the majority of the flight to the Mediterranean island. He saw another being held up to a window on the plane by his neck.

Kieran told RTE’s News at One: ‘We were late taking off because people kept jumping out of their seats, some would even shout back at the air stewards or give them a hand signal to let them know they didn’t care what they had to say.’

‘Huge groups congregated at both bathrooms mainly because the drinks carts were there and they bought many, many drinks and there was huge bottles from duty-free opened.’

‘Bottles of rum, bottles of vodka, bottles of whiskey, were being downed on the plane. ‘One man was walking up and down the plane with a big bottle of vodka for people to take sips out of.’

‘Alcohol continued to be sold to already drunk passengers for around an hour and a half after take off,’ he said.
