The Western Regional Police Command recently conducted a raid on an illegal mining site in Avelebo and Akango, located within the Evalue Ajomoro-Gwira District.
During the operation, they seized ten excavators and apprehended seven foreign nationals along with eight Ghanaian miners who were involved in illegal mining activities. These operations have reportedly led to the pollution of the Ankobra River.
Authorities have stated that the seized equipment will serve as evidence in the prosecution of those involved.
