About 4,000 kids from over 80 schools have registered to participate in the 2020 edition of the Accra Kiddy Mile Race expected to take place on Saturday March 14, 2020 at the Elwak Sports Stadium.

The event which is organised by Actively Sports Events headed by Mrs Cathy Morton would see the kids competing in six disciplines including football, badminton, handball, volleyball, basketball and table tennis.

“There would be side attractions like the mummy and race, parents 50 meters dash, sack race, PS4 competition, bouncy castle, trampoline and mini golf, aside the main sports events,” she explained.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) has thrown its support to the event after keenly monitoring the activities and the progress of the Accra Kiddie Mile Races which had it maiden event last year.

The Chef de Mission for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Mr. Mike Aggrey, said it is good to engage kids from different homes and schools to socialise and compete for medals.

He assured that the Tokyo 2020 Committee of the GOC will be at the El Wak Stadium to motivate and support the young athletes on the day.

He urged parents and schools authorities to join the fun and also promote healthy living.

Ghana Olympic Committee further praised Blue Band, PIC, Planet, McBerry Biscuits, Dano Milk and Unilever’s Omo for sponsoring the initiative and urged other companies to open their doors for such laudable activities.

The maiden edition, which was held in 2019, saw the kids receiving certificates and other products from the sponsors.
