Ampem Darkoa Ladies have been crowned champions of the 2021-2022 Women’s Premier League Season. The Northern Zone fought off competition from defending Champions Hasaacas Ladies on penalties.
Success Ameyaa scored from the spot to give Hasaacas Ladies the lead in the 19th minute before Comfort Yeboah in 26th minute also scored from the spot.
After a 1-1 goal apiece of regulation time from, it was time for a nail biting nervy 30 minutes of extra time. As fate will have it, this finale seemed to have a strong resistance to open goals.
All was set for the final decider. Five players each from the Hasaacas and Ampem Darkoa had the fate of the clubs in their kicks. Ophelia Serwaa Amponsah took the final kick which finally liberated Ampem Darkoa from the shackles of Hasaacas.
Ampem Darkoa were champions of the Northern Zone with 39 points after 18 matches after winning 12 matches, losing 3 and drawing 3 matches.
Unfortunately, Sea Lions and Immigration Ladies were relegated from the Southern Zone while Northern Ladies and Savannah Ladies were relegated from the Northern Zone.
Fabulous Ladies Princess owusu is the top scorer with 15 goals.
It was an electric atmosphere at the Accra Sports stadium as President Kurt Okraku, Women’s Premier league Chairperson Madam Hillary Boaten, Women’s Premier Vice Chairperson Madam Rosalind Koramah Amoh, GFA General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo and a host of Sports royalties cheered both teams for an amazing match.
