Black Stars Captain Andre Ayew has finally issued an official apology to all Ghanaians for the Black Stars abysmal performance in the Africa Cup of Nations. Andre Ayew poured out his heart in an emotional video posted on his Instagram account.

Coming off a disastrous AFCON 2023 campaign, Andre Ayew shared how shameful he and his team felt about their abysmal performance and their inability to progress from the group stage.

Ayew also took full responsibility as the captain of the national team, admitting he and his teammates should’ve done better for the flag and the people of Ghana.

He added that considering all these setbacks, the team is still optimistic about the future, as he believes the team will come back stronger while also debunking any retirement rumours.

“These past days have been very difficult for every Ghanaian, every Ghanaian football fan, and myself. I’d like to apologise for the results in the AFCON that we just exited. We know that we should have done better, that we should have got better results too.”

“To the nation, as the captain of the squad, I take full responsibility for what happened on the pitch. For the playing body, we should have done better, we should have made sure that we bring results to our nation. In football, these are things that happen, these are things that make you stronger, and what doesn’t kill you makes you become a stronger person individually and collectively,” said Andre Ayew.
