The Porcupine Warriors Kumasi Asante Kotoko football club beat their arch-rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club, one goal to nil yesterday Sunday, April 11, 2022, in their Week 24 Ghana Premier League clash at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

The win for the Asante Kotoko lads has taken them a step closer to clinching the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League title.

The Cameroonian import, Franck Mbella Thierry Etouga, stepped up and converted from the penalty spot after the league leaders were awarded a “controversial” penalty at the Baba Yara Stadium, giving the Porcupine Warriors all three points at stake.

Elsewhere at the Accra Sports Stadium, Great Olympics defeated Aduana Stars with a 2-1 scoreline with Maxwell Abbey Quaye scoring late in the encounter to give the home team a needed victory.

Meanwhile, at the Theatre of Dreams, Eleven Wonders held Dreams FC, the home team as they played out a 1-1 game while Berekum Chelsea also beat Legon Cities at home.

Emmanuel Owusu scored late in the game between Bechem United and Bibiani Gold Stars as the Hunters continued their pursuit of league leader, Kotoko. The goal was the 21-year-old’s second goal in the top-flight since joining the club for the second half of the season.

King Faisal, on the other end, lost to bottom-rocked Elmina Sharks as their winless run continued over the weekend. Medeama also beat Real Tamale United with a 2-1 scoreline in Tarkwa.

The weekend’s results mean Kotoko maintain their eight points lead at the top of the league table while Bechem fills the second spot.
