Asante Kotoko inch closer to winning 2021/22 GPL title

Asante Kotoko are one win away from clinching the 2021/22 GPL title after beating Medeama SC

Current leading club on Ghana Premier League (GPL) ladder, Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC inch closer to winning the 2021/22 GPL title.

Asante Kotoko has four games remaining, including an outstanding game against Ashanti Gold SC. Following an emphatic victory far away in Tarkwa on Sunday, 29, May 2022, in their match-day 31 fixture against Medeama SC they are in pool position of clinching the league title.

First-half goals from Andrews Appau and Frank Mbella Etouga ensured all maximum points were put in the basket to Kumasi.

Statistically, should Asante Kotoko SC lose all three games and win one, it will increase the points tally to 62 which means second place and third place Medeama SC and Bechem United FC will only boost by 59 points.

Arch-rivals Accra Hearts of Oak on the other hand has five games to play before the end of the season including an outstanding match with Techiman Eleven Wonders FC.

What it means, is that should Hearts of Oak SC accumulate wins from all five games will amass 62-points likewise Asante Kotoko SC.

Currently, Hearts of Oak are boosting of 47-points after 29 league games.

Mathematically, and per the Ghana Football Association Rule (Head-to-Head) comes in, therefore the title race is between Hearts and Kotoko for now, should hearts win all their five league games left.

So Kotoko is ahead of Bechem in case both teams get 59 points each.

Kotoko is ahead of Medeama in case both teams get 59 points each.

Hearts vs kotoko (0:0)

Kotoko vs Hearts (1:0)

Kotoko is ahead of Hearts in case both teams get 62 points each.

Asante Kotoko needs only 3-points to win the 2021/22 Ghana Premier league title.
