Kumasi Asante kotoko and Dormaa based Aduana FC both fielded 10 players each instead of 11 in the first half Match Day 11 Ghana Premier League game due to superstitious beliefs.

Kotoko midfielder Martin Antwi and Aduana defender Farouk Mohammed stayed out during the entire duration of the opening 45 minutes, both waiting on each other to step on the field first due to a belief that the team whose player entered the pitch first would lose.

A 93rd minute goal for Aduana Stars by Samuel Bioh secured all 3 points against Asante Kotoko in the keenly contested match.

Augustine Arhinful, a member of the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana, in an interview said he is ‘scandalised’ by the unprofessional attitude showed by Aduana and Kotoko in Wednesday’s game.

He said coaches should not imbibe such stone-age culture of superstition in young players.
