‘Our strategy worked’

Coach Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo told the Daily Graphic in a telephone chat moments after the victory that they were happy with the result as the strategy to get a good result had worked according to plan.

“Our plan was to play cautious and not open up too much, but exploiting the chances we created and I think the team did well.

“However, we are not taking anything for granted as there is a second leg to be played. We return home on Thursday and plunge straight into preparations for the second leg which will be played on Tuesday,” she indicated.

The winners of this first round tie will play against the winners of the Kenya versus Malawi game which was also played yesterday.
