Group Chief Executive Officer at Databank, Kojo Addae-Mensah has appealed to the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) to consider Africa in the commercialization of the World Cup tournaments.

Speaking on the Matchday Show on GTV Sports+, he stated that it costs too much to purchase the rights to broadcast the World Cup matches.

“When it comes to the World Cup, I think FIFA must do something about the commercialization angle, when it comes they take too much”, Mr. Addae Mensah posited.

According to the host, Karl Tufuoh, no African country has been able to purchase the right to televise all the tournaments for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

However, Ghana Broadcasting Corporation has in partnership with DSTV acquired the rights to air 28 major matches on Television and all 64 games on Radio.
