Bukom Fist of Fury begins today

Bukom Fist of Fury is set to begin on Friday (October 12). Speaking at a Press Conference at MJ Grand Hotel, President of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA), Peter Zwennes said, Ghana will witness 26 weeks of exciting boxing.
The bouts have been categorized into three; juvenile, amateurs and professionals.
Mr. Zwennes said the league will be used to unearth talents and called on the boxers to take advantage to better their lot. He hoped that in future Boxing will be infused into Ghana’s educational curricular at school to help impact the sport.
President of Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation (GABF), George Lamptey, said the exposure was good for the amateurs, as more fights will make them more confident. He also warned against hooliganism because it could scare potential sponsors
Tech Director GBA, Coach Ofori Asare, explained that 14 clubs and 170 boxers will participate.
There will be 12 rounds for professionals and 6 rounds for amateurs. Rules of engagement will remain the same as international rules.
Moses Foh Amoani, consultant of the project lauded the collaboration between GBA, GABF and National Juvenile Committee for helping to bring the dream of the league to life.
The bout composition per night will be Juvenile 6, Amateurs 12 and 3 professionals on bout day and spiced with music and Bukom Walk.
