The Vice-President of the Ghana Cricket Association, Oscar Provencal has praised the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, GBC for a wonderful coverage of the 13th African Games.

Mr Provencal popularly known in the entertainment circles as Inspector Bediako was full of praise for the State Broadcaster in its coverage of all the 29 disciplines in this year’s
events.

He made this commendation when his Association took its turn at the daily press briefing series which provides updates on progress of the competition to the local and foreign press at the Press Center of the Legon stadium.

“I must commend GBC the national broadcaster for the great transmission. Clearly this is being broadcasted to over 100 countries and for the images I have seen they are of international broadcasting standard”

“When we started we had nine thousand views and as we speak we have 90,000 views and 6 million viewers on ESPN and I must say congratulations to the broadcasting team”

The game of crickets is being introduced into the African Games for the first time. Mr Provencal is hopeful this will raise people’s interest in the games in secondary schools as well as the general public.

He added that the coverage of the cricket games will give Ghana the needed exposure to draw investors to help the Association to develop the game of crickets.

With barely 24 hours to the climax of the 13th African Games Ghana has been able to win 11 gold medals 21 silver and 16 Bronze medal to make a total of 51 overall and 6th position on the medal table.
