Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kwasi Nyantakyi has disclosed that government will always interfere in footballing matters.

There have always been debates between the GFA and the government as to who regulates the national teams since it’s the government that funds them.

Speaking on GTV Sports+ program dubbed Saving Our Passion, the former FIFA Executive Council Member said the government would interfere no matter what.

“There will be Government interference no matter what we do, I tasted it during my time. An example is when Government nominated another person outside football to CAF.” Mr. Nyantekyi said.

Unlike Dr. Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe who praised former President John Agyekum Kuffour for not intruding in the affairs of the GFA despite being appointed by him in 2004, Mr. Nyantekyi said “at some point in time, the Government interfered with my job”

Kwesi Nyantakyi, was the Ghana FA President for 13 years until the Anas’s Exposé which found him guilty of corruption that led to his lifetime ban from FIFA in 2018 but has since been reduced to 15 years following an appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS).
