Kwesi Nyantakyi charged with fraud

Kwesi Nyantakyi, the former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has been charged with fraud over his involvement in the Anas Aremeyaw Anas Number 12 Exposé premiered in 2018.

Kwesi Nyantakyi together with the former Northern Regional Representative of the GFA, Abdulai Alhassan are also facing the charge of Conspiracy to commit fraud.

They have both pleaded not guilty.

The two football administrators have been admitted to their previous bail sum of 1milliom Ghana cedies each with three sureties to be justified.

They are also to report to the Case investigator until the final determination of the case.

The two were granted bail after their lawyers made application for bail and same was not opposed by the prosecution. But even though the Defence Counsel wanted their client admitted to self-recognisance bail, the Court admitted them to their previous bail terms.

Justice El-Freda Denky who is the Presiding Judge of the General Jurisdiction Division 2 of the Accra High Court have also ordered prosecution to serve the defence lawyers with disclosures and witness statements to the defence.

The case has been adjourned to July 23, 2021.

In the Anas Aremeyaw Anas Number 12 exposé, Kwesi Nyantakyi was captured allegedly collecting cash gifts which led to his resignation as GFA President, and also lost his positions as FIFA Council Member and 1st Vice President of CAF.
