"Lets give more attention to Physical Education" – Education Minister

The Minister of Education, Dr. Matthew Opoku- Prempeh, has entreated directors of education, heads of institutions and teachers to ensure that Physical Education (P.E), is given the needed attention in the curriculum.
He said, the freedom to develop physically, intellectually and moral power through physical education and sports must be guaranteed both within the education system and social life.
This was contained in an address read on his behalf, by the Eastern Regional Director of Education, Ms. Monica Ankrah at the official opening of the 33rd National Basic Schools Sports festival, being  held at the Koforidua Senior High Technical School (K.S.H.T.S) at Koforidua.
Dr. Opoku-Prempeh said,  if physical education was not effectively thought and practiced in schools, talents would not be identified for future sporting events.
Dr. Opoku- Prempeh said the ministry would continue to support quality education for the total development and progress of the youth in the country.
He said, he was hopeful that the festival would provide the exposure and experience that the youth needed to help build a stronger and healthy nation.
The nine days sporting festival would see the young sportsmen and women compete in athletes, volleyball, table tennis, football, handball, netball and hockey .
