Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table but only by a single point as Leicester City delivered an excellent performance at Anfield on Wednesday night.
Jurgen Klopp’s side had the opportunity to move seven points clear with a win after Newcastle stunned Manchester City but were frustrated under the lights despite taking an early lead as Leicester clung on for a 1-1 draw.
The Merseysiders made a ferocious start to the match with a 30-pass move culminating in Sadio Mane guiding the ball into the bottom corner to open the scoring inside three minutes.
They could easily have doubled the advantage, with Roberto Firmino and Mane again going close, though after seeing out that early onslaught Leicester began to show some counter-attacking threat of their own.
James Maddison has a great chance to head Leicester level but put his tame effort wide, though Harry Maguire made no mistake on the stroke of half-time.
