The Black Queens of Ghana have qualified for the second round of the Paris 2024 Olympics Qualifier.
The Nora Hauptle side won 4-0 at home to the delight of home fans at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Evelyn Badu opened the scoring in the 36th minute; unfortunately, Coach Nora had to substitute Doris Boaduwaa for Fidous Yakubu after Doris sustained an injury before the end of the first half.
Though the Queens started the second half on a slower note, Princella Adubea’s goal in the 52nd minute increased the lead for the Ghanaians. Evelyn Badu and Fidous Yakubu added two goals each in the 59th and 85th minutes, respectively.
The senior national women’s team, which won 3-0 at the General Lasana Conte Stadium in Conakry, therefore concluded the first round of qualifiers with a 7-0 aggregate. The next round of the qualifying series will be held from October 23–31, 2023.
Ghana will compete against Benin and could meet Mali or Zambia if the Queens make it out of the second round.
The Black Queens, under Coach Nora Hauptle’s tutelage, have played five matches, scoring 14 and not conceding.
